David H. Smith Jr., known as Shrike The Creator, is a composer, choral/theater director, and multimedia creator. Career highlights include touring with the U.S. Army Band (Ft. Knox, KY) as a vocal soloist and tuba player; a B.S. in Music Education (SUNY Potsdam) and M.M. in Music Education (Ithaca College); co-founding The Potsdam Pointercounts and producing its first CD; and composing works spanning brass, choral, theater, and musical productions.
Recent projects: the original musical Scrooge (oratorio and full stage production); Dear Corona (2020, musical comedy); and the Close to the Edge EP, a three-track high-energy dance concept that introduces the fictional Shrike The Creator character. To bring the narrative visually to life, David collaborated with emerging text-to-video tools (including OpenAI’s Sora) to refine imagery and video presentation, with appropriate credits and watermarks.
